Right now, the iPhone 14 is arguably the best phone on the market. With the device dropping, just last week, here is some critical information that a potential buyer might want to know before making this investment.
The iPhone 14 comes in four different versions, each with a unique look, set of features, and price. Some people like to view them as two models of phone with two different sizes: the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, then the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 Plus is effectively the larger version of the iPhone 14, and the Pro Max is a larger version of the Pro
Design
So what should we expect in terms of design if we’re going to upgrade? Actually, if we are comparing the iPhone 13 and 14, not much has changed. They look practically the same, having the rear cameras
in the same diagonal layout.
Now, let’s look at the Pros. The overall sizing of the phone varies from the 13 by a fraction of an inch. But the 14 Pros have a notably larger camera bump. This model also features a completely new color - deep purple, a much darker color than the 14 and 14 plus.
The Pros also present a much smaller selfie camera-notch. The front of the phone now has a pill-shaped notch that can expand, showing us alerts and background activity.
Camera
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus cameras made huge leaps in terms of recording in low light. The bigger sensor on the cameras allows for a 49% improvement, catching the most vibrant colors in your photos.
But that is not all, the selfie camera is getting a much-needed autofocus feature. This means subjects that are different distances apart will both be sharp and clean. Apple is also adding a new Action Mode on the camera App, helping you stabilize your video by removing shaking.
The Pros are getting all of this and more. A new 9-LED flash, and a new 2x zoom lens, which can shoot in 4k quality. Additionally, now in Cintmentaic Mode videos can be shot in 4k up to 40 frames per second.
Other best improvements
A new subscription service allows the new iPhone to make emergency calls, even if you don’t have cellular service. The phone will automatically connect to the nearest satellite and keep you secure.
While we’re on the topic of safety, the iPhone 14 can also sense if you have been in a car crash. Once detected, the phone will ask you to call emergency services, if you don’t respond, it will do it for you.
Further, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone Pro Max are getting always-on screens. While your device is locked and the screen is “off”, your phone screen will still be showing the time, your widgets, and live activities.
Pricing and availability
All four modules are available now. You can order them on apple.com.
The iPhone 14 starts at $799, the same as the 13 when it first launched. The iPhone 14 Plus is $899. As for the 14 Pro and Pro Max, the prices are $999 and $1,099, respectively.
